In the town of Ine deeply connected with the sea, there are no fish markets. Restaurants, accommodation facilities and townspeople all obtain fresh seafood each morning from the daily takings at the fish harbor. As a result, you can eat outstandingly fresh seafood at Ine`s restaurants. The seafood taken from the sea before your eyes varies over the different seasons, and you can always obtain fresh seasonal fish.
Within the wide range of attractive Ine seafood, the particularly popular seafood items are Japanese oysters and winter yellowtail. Japanese oysters are likened to the “milk of the sea”, and are in season from the end of May until July. Japanese oysters raised along the funaya-lined Ine bay are exquisite. Also, Ine is known as one of Japan`s top 3 fishing grounds, and has been famous from olden times as a place where lots of yellowtail fish are caught. Among the numerous yellow tail dishes, burishabu dishes are the most popular. In burishabu, yellowtail is briefly passed through boiled dashi stock before eating to remove a sufficient amount of oil, so you can eat as much as you like. Ine is also said to be the origin of these burishabu dishes.
When you come to visit Ine, please try some of the attractive seafood available at the restaurants and accommodation facilities.
